Hops of the Day: Magic Hat Vinyl Lager

Magic Hat Vinyl.do

JUSTINLOVESFOOD.com-Was at the beer store this weekend and little bit surprised to see that Magic Hat Brewery had already introduced their 2010 Spring Seasonal, Vinyl Lager, considering I had to trapse through snow to get to the store.

Now that I have it back at home and have drank a couple, I have to say that I really like this easy drinking amber lager.  It’s quite delicious.

Go to your local liquor store, pick up a 6 pack, and let me know what you think.

Here’s a little promotional video that Magic Hat did for the Vinyl release:

Beer of the Day: Flying Fish Exit 4

Flying Fish Exit 4

NEWJERSEYNEWSROOMS.com- The Flying Fish Brewing Company of Cherry Hill announced on Saturday that they would release their award winning Exit 4 American Style Tripel in 12 oz. bottles starting next month.

First offered in the spring of 2009, Exit 4 was the first beer in the Flying Fish exit series, that focuses on the New Jersey Turnpike. It is important to note, however, that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority has no affiliation with the beer and that neither Flying Fish nor the Turnpike Authority condones drinking and driving.

Beer: Harpoon Winter Warmer

When you bring a glass of this dark copper ale to your lips to take your first sip you will notice the aroma of cinnamon. There is no aromatic hop added that might overpower the distinct spice scent. The medium body of this beer is formed from caramel and pale malts. These create enough body to support the spices without making the beer excessively rich. Bittering hops are added to counter the sweetness of the malt and spice. The finish of the beer is a blend of cinnamon and nutmeg. The combination of these two spices results in a balanced, pumpkin-pie flavor.
