The Best of 2009: The Burger People don’t Talk About

Westville

WESTVILLE

This hole in the wall is easy to walk past because it is so SMALL.  You have to wait outside (no reservations) and write your name on the clipboard hung on the siding before you are seated in the shoebox.  It maybe seats 15 people ??? and kitchen is the same size as mine (that is NOT big)  Bathroom?  Yea you have to walk through the kitchen.  The food, is FANTASTIC…let me repeat…FANTASTIC.  There is not one thing on the VERY healthy (in size that is) menu that isn’t delicious. The Burger…..one of the best that people don’t talk about.

Review: Blue Ribbon Bakery (@ Brooklyn Bowl)

Blue Ribbon Bakery- The Burger Boy, best burgers in NYC

Talk about a good looking burger at Blue Ribbon Bakery!  That bad boy doesn’t taste too bad either.  A fresh toasted sesame bun around medium-rare beef that was slightly over done (not off to a good start there).  The flavor was good (not great) as the burger was seasoned well but my tastebuds weren’t jumping for joy or out of my mouth.  The cheese was very good and melted well into the burger and complimented the seasoned beef. (Who can’t melt cheese? I am looking for ways to give brownie points here people)

It needed something and I am still searching as to what it is……The overdone meat was the dealbreaker for me.  If it has been cooked well i think the flavor from both the beef and the cheese would have married well but was shot due to the chef with the heavy hand.  Hey you can’t win ‘em all but this is a burger that is worthy of the old college try but no need to adjust your calendar anytime soon.

PS: The fries were PHENOMENA and the cheese fries were even better.  I would honestly hit this joint up for the fries alone.  They are THAT good.  I know my cheese fries and believe me these ones are worth writing home about.

Who let the dogs out?

SDC12460SDC12458SDC12444COURANT.com- HARTFORD — – There have been many games over the past few years in which Stanley Robinson — as enigmatic as he can be energetic, as inconsistent as he is athletic — has virtually disappeared. There have been many others in which he has loudly stood out, dunking emphatically, yelling as he finishes lob passes, hanging on the rim.

Buns of the week Rihanna

LATIMESBLOGS.LATIMES.com- The organizers behind acclaimed Barbadian singer Rihanna’s planned concert in Abu Dhabi on New Year’s Eve are denying media reports that the star has been told to trade in her trademark revealing, raunchy stage gear for a more wholesome look in her gig at the Emirates Palace Hotel in the emirate.

“The facts and figures recently reported around Rihanna’s Abu Dhabi concert are totally inaccurate,” said concert organizer Flash in a statement quoted by the United Arab Emirates-based English-language newspaper Gulf News.
